The increasing number of dengue cases in Indonesia is an issue that must be addressed together. In recent years, the increasing number of dengue cases has become a serious concern for both the government and Indonesian society.
Various factors, including climate change, urbanization, and global movement, have led to an increase in Aedes aegypti mosquito population, the transmitter of the virus that causes dengue fever.
The Health Ministry's Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (P2PM) data shows a significant dengue case increase from 95,893 cases to 131,265 cases in the last three years (2020-2022), including the worrying dengue fatality rate from 661 to 1,183 people in the same period. "This is indeed our shared responsibility as protecting ourselves from dengue fever starts with educating ourselves and family members as the right step," Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said.
To overcome dengue fever threats, increasing the role of Jumantik (Mosquito Larvae Monitoring Officers) and TPK (Family Assistance Team) is very crucial to provide public education about Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN).
Dengue fever cases can be avoided through proper preventive measures, where the government’s 3M Plus program is one of the main initiatives in this regard. The program reminds the public to Drain objects that can become mosquito nests, Cover water containers tightly, Recycle various products, plus use mosquito repellent as an extra protection.
Meanwhile, collaborative efforts to address the increasing dengue fever threat in Indonesia are carried out by HIT from PT Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia, KlikDokter, and the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture in seminars, e-books, and press conference themed 'Strengthening Health Services through Increasing Jumantik and TPK Role to Tackle Dengue Fever Cases in Indonesia'.
HIT from PT Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia, a mosquito repellent manufacturer, has played a strategic role in dengue fever prevention efforts. Offering innovative aerosol products that are 5 times more effective in killing Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes in the first minute. HIT is committed to creating mosquitoes and dengue fever free Indonesia.
"HIT's big goal is very clear, which is to create Indonesia that is free from mosquitoes and dengue fever. Through our innovative and effective products, HIT strives to protect Indonesian people from the threat of mosquitoes that carry this disease," Director of PT Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia, Basuki said. HIT also collaborates with Jumantik for its crucial role in various efforts to prevent and control dengue fever.
Jumantik plays a significant role in environmental monitoring to identify potential mosquito nests, disseminate public information about the importance of dengue fever prevention, and assist in eradicating mosquito nests at people’s homes and their surroundings.
In society, Jumantik becomes an agent of change by educating about the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness, eliminating potential places that can become mosquito nests, and reporting conditions that require further action to the authorities.
"The spirit of prevention through education is the right step to continuously overcome and eradicate dengue fever in Indonesia. Through KlikDokter, we also urge the public to always update and maintain their health through our portal and online consultation services with the best doctors," KlikDokter CEO Hendra Tjong concludes.
